Samsung to Desert LCDs

As a result of final decision by the shareholders, Samsung Electronics will close its years business in  LCD  on April 1st  and then transfer its main focus on display operations on  OLEDs(Organic Light Emitting Diode).
The LCD industry has gone downhill as well as the price falling, which lead to Samsung’s LCD business lost up to $665m last year.
OLEDs are seen as having a better visual angle, richer colors and potentially better  energy efficiency . OLEDS also have the potential to be flexible in the long-term future but one of the biggest disadvantages is OLED has a short life.
Because OLED technology has some way to go and seeing the future prosperity ,Samsung is banking on its R&D techniques to keep it ahead of the market and support a potentially lucrative product rather than an increasingly unprofitable product.
